High Point Housing Authority Recognizes World Habitat Day
On October 6th, volunteers from the Housing Authority of the City of High Point (HPHA), the Greensboro Housing & Urban Development (HUD), and the City of High Point observed World Habitat Day by spending a day helping to finalize construction of a home for a family in High Point. World Habitat Day is a day of grassroots action to advocate for universal decent housing and a day set aside annually to recognize the basic right of all humanity to adequate shelter and to encourage grassroots action toward ending poverty housing.
The volunteers joined the Habitat for Humanity of High Point, Archdale and Trinity employees and other work units around the world to rededicate themselves to a world where everyone has a decent place to live and also giving back to the community. Habitat for Humanity not only brings people together to build homes, it also builds hope for so many families.
"Our participation with Habitat for Humanity was an additional way for the HPHA to empower lives and build foundations. We were very fortunate to be able to participate in World Habitat Day within our community and be a part of this incredible experience," commented Angela McGill, CEO of the HPHA.
Susan Wood, President/CEO of Habitat for Humanity of High Point, Archdale and Trinity, added, "It was wonderful to host HUD and the High Point Housing Authority on World
Habitat Day. The need for simple, decent and affordable housing here in High Point and around the world is something that we all work for on a daily basis."
