THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF HIGH POINT

                            PLANTS SEEDS TO SUCCESS

Seeds-to-Success is one of the many initiatives the Housing Authority of the City of High Point (HPHA) is collaborating with Guilford County Schools in High Point to improve the academic success of its youth.

The HPHA is partnering with Kirkman Park Elementary School with the goal of improving educational outcomes and intergenerational mobility for students by delivering services and support directly to the students and their families. The HPHA has been awarded a $2,000 Early Childhood Reading Grant from Target Foundation for the purpose of increasing the reading proficiency of targeted kindergarten through third grade students at Kirkman Park Elementary. The Target Foundation grant complements HPHA’s current Seeds-to-Success initiative to increase achievement levels of students currently participating in HPHA programs.

Mr. Angelo Kidd, Western Region Superintendent of Guilford County Schools says, "I express my genuine appreciation of the High Point Housing Authority leadership, CEO Ms. Angela McGill, for partnering with Kirkman Park Elementary to grow our students’ reading proficiency."

Dr. Jamel Crawford, Principal of Kirkman Park Elementary school added, "As the proud principal of Kirkman Park Elementary School, I look forward to this new partnership with the High Point Housing Authority. The ability to reach students beyond the school day is a critical component of success and will positively impact students’ reading proficiency. We are thankful for this new opportunity and look forward to seeing it blossom as we move forward."

HPHA is excited about the prospect of working directly with Kirkman Park Elementary School. "We look forward to partnering with Kirkman Park Elementary School and other schools throughout High Point as we continue our efforts to empower lives and build foundations," adds Angela McGill.
